Audit Logs Overview

2 min read

Audit logs give your team a clear record of activity across a workspace and its projects. Each entry captures what happened, who performed the action, and when it occurred, so you can review changes, investigate issues, and support compliance reviews.

Use audit logs when you need to answer: who changed this, what changed, and when did it happen?

Each audit log entry records:

  • An Audit Type category
  • An Audit Sub Type that describes the specific action
  • Action By — the user who performed the action
  • Timestamp — when the action took place

Selecting an entry reveals more context, including related identifiers, an optional message, and any captured payload.

Audit logs are grouped into the following audit type categories:

  • Security
  • User Management
  • Workspace Management
  • Project Management
  • Role Management
  • Group Management
  • Custom Fields
  • Shared Steps
  • Parameters
  • Requirements
  • Test Suites
  • Releases
  • Defects
  • Labels
  • Test Runs

These categories help you focus on a specific area of activity, such as security events or changes to roles.

To open audit logs:

  1. Open a workspace.
  2. Select Audit Logs.
  3. Review the list of recorded activity.

Use the Refresh button at any time to reload the latest activity.

The audit logs table lists recorded activity with these columns:

  • Audit Type
  • Audit Sub Type
  • Action By
  • Timestamp

Timestamps are shown relative to now (for example, “2 hours ago”). Hover over a timestamp to see the exact date and time.

You can narrow the list using the filters panel:

  • Audit Type — show only entries from a selected category.
  • Action By — show only entries performed by a specific user.
  • Action Timestamp — show only entries within a chosen date range.

You can also use the search box to look up entries by audit ID, user, message, or IP address. Use Clear all to reset the active filters.

You can sort the audit logs by:

  • Timestamp
  • Audit Type
  • Action By

Choose a sort field and switch between ascending and descending order to organize the list.

Selecting an entry opens its details panel. The details panel can show:

  • The Audit Type category and the specific sub type
  • Action By
  • Action Timestamp
  • Request IP Address, when available
  • Related IDs that connect the entry to the affected items
  • A Message describing the action, when available
  • A Payload with additional structured data, when available

On smaller screens, the details open in a side panel so the table stays readable.

Access to audit logs depends on your workspace permissions. If audit logs are unavailable, your role may not include the required access.
