Bulk Operations

Selecting Multiple Defects

To select defects:

  1. Use checkboxes in table
  2. Select individual defects
  3. Select all on current page
  4. Selected defects are highlighted

Bulk Status Update

To update multiple defects:

  1. Select defects
  2. Click bulk actions menu
  3. Select “Update Status”
  4. Choose new status
  5. Confirm update

Bulk Assignment

To assign multiple defects:

  1. Select defects
  2. Click bulk actions menu
  3. Select “Assign”
  4. Choose assignee
  5. Confirm assignment

Note: Bulk operations may be limited based on permissions.

Filtering and Organizing Defects

Using Quick Filters

Quick filters provide one-click access to common views:

  • Status filters (New, In Progress, Resolved, etc.)
  • Priority filters (Critical, High, Medium, Low)
  • Severity filters (Blocker, Critical, High, etc.)
  • Assignment filters (Unassigned, Assigned to Me)
  • Date filters (Created Today, Due Today, Overdue)

Using Advanced Filters

To apply advanced filters:

  1. Click filter icon or open filter panel
  2. Select filter criteria
  3. Filters are applied immediately
  4. Combine multiple filters as needed

Filter Options:

  • Status (single or multiple)
  • Priority
  • Severity
  • Assignee
  • Reporter
  • Due Date
  • Project (workspace view)
  • Test Case Reference
  • Execution Source
  • Custom Fields

To search defects:

  1. Use global search box
  2. Type search query
  3. Results filter automatically
  4. Search matches: code, title, priority, severity, status, reporter, assignee

Saving Views

To save filter combinations:

  1. Apply desired filters
  2. Note filter combination
  3. Use same filters next time
  4. (Future: Save as named view)

Defect Analytics

Viewing Statistics

Defect statistics show:

  • Total defects
  • By status
  • By priority
  • By severity
  • By assignee
  • Overdue count
  • Completion rate

Using Analytics

Analytics help:

  • Understand defect trends
  • Identify bottlenecks
  • Monitor team workload
  • Track resolution rates
  • Plan releases

Use Cases

Developer Workflow

  1. View assigned defects
  2. Update status to “In Progress”
  3. Work on fix
  4. Update status to “Resolved”
  5. Add comments with fix details
  6. Assign to QA for testing

QA Workflow

  1. View defects in “Resolved” status
  2. Test the fix
  3. Update status to “In Test”
  4. Verify fix works
  5. Update status to “Verified” or “Reopened”
  6. Add comments with test results

Triage Workflow

  1. Review new defects
  2. Assess priority and severity
  3. Assign to appropriate developer
  4. Set due date
  5. Add traceability links
  6. Update status as needed

Permissions

Defect tracking requires:

  • View Defects: View defects list and details
  • Edit Defects: Update defect properties
  • Change Status: Update defect status
  • Assign Defects: Assign to users
  • Add Comments: Comment on defects

Permissions are managed at the project level. Contact your project administrator if you need additional permissions.
